About

Michael Zann (Michal Krča) is a Czech composer and multi-instrumentalist known for creating unique atmospheric music featuring ancient instruments and throat singing. As the founder of Nemuer, he has brought forgotten sounds of ancient civilizations back to life, blending pagan mysticism with immersive soundscapes. His compositions have resonated with audiences worldwide, leading to performances at prestigious festivals such as Brutal Assault (CZ), Midgardsblot (NO), and WGT (DE).

Beyond Nemuer, Michael has contributed to game music and development, notably working on the MMORPG Arch Gate. He studied game development in Skövde, Sweden, gaining experience in both composition and programming before shifting his focus entirely to music. He has also attended the Composer Summit Prague three times, receiving masterclasses from industry legends including Jesper Kyd, Christopher Young, Jeff Beal, Mychael Danna, and Harry Gregson-Williams.

In 2022, Michael traveled throughout Egypt, seeking inspiration and musical instruments for his art music film “Going Forth by Day”. Thanks to the help of locals, he discovered a pharaonic tune, which was incorporated into a small section of the project. Drawing from the Book of the Dead, the film incorporates historical instruments and singing in Ancient Egyptian, with a newly reconstructed pronunciation made possible through collaboration with Egyptologist Dr. Christian de Vartavan. The film is created alongside Klára Sedlo, a famous pop-surrealism painter, and Michael and Klára successfully completed a crowdfunding campaign to support the project.

Currently based in Prague, Michael works remotely on original compositions, licensing, and recording projects.
